Museum of the 2nd Leningrad Naval Special School
About museum
During the Great Patriotic War residents of regions of the European part of Russia occupied by German forces were evacuated to the town of Tara. On March 3, 1942, 85 pupils of the 2nd Leningrad Naval Special School, weakened by the blockade, arrived in Tara. Tara welcomed them kindly, and many organizations took part in the reception. In July 1944 the special school returned to Leningrad. The graduates do not forget Tara, which became like a hometown to them, visiting it repeatedly. In 1998 a Naval Glory square was laid out on Sovetskaya Street in memory of the sailors of the People's Commissariat for Education (Narkompros). A museum of the history of the 2nd Leningrad Naval Special School was opened in Secondary School No. 4 of Tara; it celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2012.
