Museum «Fire Service of Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk»
About museum
In 1874 a fire engine depot was built in Ulyanovsk, which became one of the city's most significant historical monuments. In the 1920s the first fire station was located here, and in 1968 it housed City Fire Station No. 3 of the Ulyanovsk City Executive Committee. During the Great Patriotic War there was a workshop here for repairing firefighting equipment. On April 17, 1979, the building became the permanently operating Ulyanovsk Fire-Technical Museum. The museum displays unique exhibits: horse-drawn barrel apparatus, 'standard model' stalls, a collection of firefighting equipment, and a section on fire prevention. In addition, the museum exhibits a unique vehicle on a GAZ-AA chassis, available for viewing. Thus, the Ulyanovsk Fire-Technical Museum is the only place where one can see historical exhibits related to 19th-century urban firefighting and learn about the development of firefighting in Soviet Russia.
