The 'Small Goods Shop' Museum
About museum
Here visitors can also watch a film about the shop's past and feel like real customers of a Simbirsk shop. The house that houses the 'Small Goods Shop' Museum was built in 1851. In the second half of the 19th century a small shop known as the 'Small Goods Shop' occupied the ground floor. It existed until the early 1890s. In 1982 the building was rebuilt, and in 2002 the museum was opened here. It displays authentic exhibits that provide an impression of Simbirsk trade in the 19th century. The museum is a small ethnographic corner where visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of an old shop. There is a long counter with a cash desk, scales, bins of flour, and shelves with a variety of goods. In addition, visitors can watch a film about the shop's past and feel like genuine customers of a Simbirsk shop.
