N. V. Plevitskaya Museum
About museum
The Nadezhda Vasilievna Plevitskaya Museum was opened by order of the Governor of the Kursk Region, A. N. Mikhaylov. It was established as a branch of the Kursk Regional Museum of Local Lore. The exhibition shows all the main stages of the singer's life and work — from a village hut to a monastery cell, then to a traveling booth and the restaurant "chorus of lapotniki", and then the transformation of an obscure cafe-concert singer into a first-rate star, and, ultimately, a tragic death in a French penal colony. The museum presents her extensive concert activity before audiences in Russia, Europe and America, as well as her work in film. Here the origins of her art and her love for her native Kursk land are traced. School programs are held at the museum — the autumn "Potato Festival" dedicated to the harvest, and "Winter gatherings" with songs, musical instrument playing, tea with pancakes, and horse riding. During tours, songs by N. V. Plevitskaya are performed.
