M. M. Zoshchenko Apartment Museum
About museum
The State Literary Museum '20th Century' opened in 1992 in the building at 9 Griboyedov Canal — in Mikhail Zoshchenko's last apartment, which once housed and hosted many well-known writers and artists. In 1934 Zoshchenko was given a four-room apartment, but after an exchange he ended up in a two-room flat, which is now the site of the museum. Visitors can see the writer's study with original belongings and view a literary exhibition about Zoshchenko's creative biography and those of other Leningrad writers. The museum is active in a variety of venues and hosts events including meetings with contemporary writers, film screenings, and museum activities for children. The museum's collections are continually enriched with new acquisitions, and walking tours of the city center invite visitors to learn about Saint Petersburg's history and culture.
