The long-awaited dream of the members of the Prokopyevsk Club of Artists to create in the city an exhibition center meeting modern exhibition standards became a reality thanks to the support of local authorities in 2005. Major renovation work on the old building, built in 1946, took almost four years. The artists developed the interior design and its lighting scheme, and V. Morozov proposed an original solution for the roof and facade. The calling card of the CEC 'Vernisazh' is a bronze sculpture of a nymph. The center hosts exhibitions at oblast and regional levels, becoming increasingly popular among artists of Siberia. The mission of the CEC 'Vernisazh' is to acquaint city residents with different styles and genres of visual art, to educate, and to influence the formation of artistic taste.
