May holiday events. Part 1

Hundreds of events will take place in Volgograd during the May holidays. I picked the most interesting ones.

On May 2, a ceremony to unveil the commemorative marker 'The Stalingrad Line of Valor' will be held in Gorodishche. This honorary title was bestowed on the settlement last year.

On May 3, 2025, a tribute concert for participants of the all‑Russian brass band festival 'Stalingrad Cup' will take place on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd. In the evening, a gala concert will be held in the amphitheater on the Central Embankment.

Air races will be held on May 7, 2025, at the airfield in Srednyaya Akhtuba. Also on May 7, 8 and 9 piston‑engine and jet aircraft will perform an air show. Pilots will demonstrate their skills over the Volga in Volgograd.

Times for the laser show 'Light of the Great Victory' at Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd: May 7 and 8, 2025 at 21:00, 22:00 and 23:00; May 9, 2025 at 21:00, 21:40 and 23:00. All three days the light installations on the main sculptures of the memorial will start already at 20:00. After the second session on Victory Day 2025 there will be fireworks and a pyrotechnic show on Russia's main height. The artillery salute in Volgograd will begin on May 9 at 22:00.

All three days — May 7, 8 and 9, 2025 — from morning until night, large LED screens on the entrance square of Mamayev Kurgan will loop thematic videos about the Hero Cities and front‑line fighters of the Immortal Regiment. On the avenue of pyramidal poplars they will display awards of the Great Patriotic War, the 'Sentinels of Victory' and victorious soldiers. Military chronicle footage will be shown on screens around the sculpture 'Stand to the Death!'.

On May 8 and 9, 2025, the amphitheater on Volgograd's Central Embankment will host the concert '80 Songs About Victory'. At 19:00 on Victory Day, May 9, 2025, a gala concert will be held on the Central Embankment. Russian stars will perform on the lower terrace. It is already known that the Turetsky Choir will be among them. Participants of the SVO (Special Military Operation) and veterans will be invited to Vladimir Spivakov's concert at the Central Concert Hall (CCH). The celebration program in Volgograd on Victory Day, May 9, 2025, will conclude with an artillery salute starting at 22:00 and several fireworks displays in different locations.

On May 9 at 10:00 a military parade will begin on the Square of the Fallen Fighters. The mechanized column will traditionally be led by the legendary T‑34 tank; if the weather holds, participants of the air races will fly over Volgograd in an aerial parade.
