The District Local History Museum of Zvenigovsky District of the Republic of Mari El was founded on September 16, 1998, and serves as a center for preserving and disseminating the history and culture of Zvenigovsky District. The museum is located in an architectural building with columns near the center of the town of Zvenigovo, attracting visitors and tourists. The museum's collection comprises more than 9,000 exhibits that tell the story of the establishment and development of the Zvenigovsky Zaton and the S. N. Butyakov Ship Repair Plant, as well as local culture and natural heritage. The museum hosts events of various levels and scales and also houses a Tourist Information Center where visitors can purchase souvenirs and obtain information about cultural events.
