The National Museum of the Republic of Mari El named after T. Evseev was founded on March 4, 1920 and contains over 228,000 storage units. The main collections are the Evseev collections (objects of Mari everyday life, costumes, works of art by Mari artists of the 1920s–1930s) and the archaeological collections of the ancient Mari culture. Special attention is paid to the traditional culture of the Mari people of the 19th–20th centuries, as well as to the textile collections, which include national costumes of various peoples. In addition, the museum features natural interiors and dioramas: "Moose", "Field", "Spruce Forest", "Pine Forest", "River and Its Floodplain", "Upland Oak Grove", "Wild Boars" and "Wolves", which depict typical and rare animals and birds. The National Museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Mari region.
