About museum

The historical and local lore museum has, for more than 20 years, painstakingly reconstructed the history of the city of Kstovo and the Kstovo district. Visitors are offered both permanent exhibitions showcasing the main milestones in the development of the native region and temporary exhibitions dedicated to significant and topical events. The museum staff have assembled rich collections in geology, paleontology, archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, philately and other areas of human activity from the earliest times to the present. The museum holdings number more than 8,000 items.

\r\nPriority areas include:
\r\n- recording, storage and restoration of museum items held in its collections;
\r\n- organization of exhibition and display activities;
\r\n- creating, through the construction of exhibitions, a coherent representation of the city and its inhabitants;
\r\n- fostering patriotism and civic responsibility;
\r\n- promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the native region;
\r\n- shaping and developing individuals capable of deepening, preserving and disseminating knowledge about the history, culture and traditions of their homeland.

\r\nThe museum hosts lectures, seminars, master classes, meetings of generations, interactive programs and round tables aimed at generating interest in and deepening knowledge of history among various groups of the population. The annually updated program, organized through subscriptions, is aimed at children and adolescents, from the senior kindergarten group up to 7th grade. Students in grades 8–11 are invited to attend events under the "Pushkin Card".

\r\nThe museum cooperates with institutions and public organizations of the city and district, cultural institutions, preschools, schools, vocational training institutions, corporate museums and museums of educational institutions, as well as commercial organizations.

\r\nThe Kstovo Historical and Local Lore Museum is a cultural institution that shapes a modern and dynamic image of the district, carrying out active work aimed at fostering love for one’s homeland, pride in the achievements of previous generations and a positive outlook for the future. The museum uses modern, interactive technologies to engage visitors.
