On August 5, the exhibition-competition "Master Craftsmen of Vyatka" (0+) opened in Kirov. The exposition is dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the city of Kirov and features hundreds of works presented by more than 250 masters of traditional folk arts and crafts.\r\n\r\n— This is one of the most significant events in the cultural life not only of our region but of the whole of Russia. It is no coincidence that tourists from different parts of the country come to the Vyatka crafts festival, say those at the Kirov Diorama, where the exhibition is being held.\r\n\r\nNearly all of the original Vyatka crafts that have survived through the centuries are represented here: Dymkovo toys, Kukarskoye lace, weaving from straw, wicker and birch bark, Vyatka ceramics, Vyatka matryoshkas, artistic woodwork, items made from wood burl, burl veneer and juniper, embroidery and sewing, artisan soft toys and more.\r\n\r\nPlease note, Kirov Oblast is one of the few regions where more than 10 types of traditional folk arts and crafts are preserved and continue to develop. At the instruction of Governor Alexander Sokolov, a package of support measures has been introduced in the region for masters and enterprises in this field, including tax incentives.\r\n\r\nThe exhibition-competition will run until September 1. Each week, masters of traditional folk arts and crafts will hold master classes for all comers.\r\n\r\nFollowing the exhibition, the judging panel will announce winners in 16 categories.\r\n\r\nAdmission to the exposition is free.
