Pyatigorsk Local History Museum is one of the oldest museums in the region, founded in 1903 as the museum of the Caucasian Mountain Society. Today the Pyatigorsk Local History Museum is a dynamically developing organization aimed at educating the public and promoting the culture and history of the Pyatigorsk area. Museum staff collect and study 134,825 exhibits, including 98,814 in the main collection. The museum presents three exhibitions: on the first floor — "Natural Features of the KMV (Caucasian Mineral Waters) Region" and "Pages of Pyatigorsk's History", and on the second floor — the exhibition "The Great Victory." On the first floor you can see relief maps of the Caucasus, mountain models, collections of minerals and ores, archaeological finds and items of historical everyday life. The second floor displays samples of weapons and military equipment, materials on the Battle for the Caucasus and the defense of Pyatigorsk, photographs, awards and personal belongings of Pyatigorsk residents who participated in the Great Patriotic War.
