Pavel Moiseevich Grechishkin – a Soviet and Russian landscape painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, participant in the Great Patriotic War. Petr Mikhailovich Grechishkin was born into a peasant family. In his youth he studied under the guidance of the artist Vladimir Grigoryevich Klenov. After serving in the army he began to take up painting. He worked as an artist in a club, and then at the Stavropol branch of the Art Fund of the USSR. In 1956 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR.
Grechishkin took part in numerous exhibitions at regional and international levels, including in Moscow, Béziers and other cities. He created a substantial number of landscapes, which are kept in museums and private collections around the world. In 1987 Grechishkin donated 167 of his works to Stavropol, which formed the basis of the picture gallery at the Stavropol State Museum of Local Lore. The artist died in 2014.
