About museum
In 1920 a local history museum was opened in Izhevsk, which is now located in the former Arsenal of the Izhevsk arms factory. The museum's director was A. M. Filippov. The museum's holdings consist of more than 200,000 items, including unique collections of historical, archaeological and ethnographic monuments, weapons, photographs, books and book collections. The museum's annual attendance exceeds 200,000 people. The exhibition will acquaint visitors with the history and nature of Udmurtia, as well as with the ethnic history of the peoples of the region. Here you can see collections of national clothing, household utensils and other items, and taxidermy of common and rare animals. Thus, the museum offers visitors a full immersion in the history and culture of the region.

Ethnographic collection 'Culture and Life of the Udmurts, 19th - 20th centuries' (clothing, household furnishings, wooden tools and utensils, traditional items related to the pagan religion of the Udmurts) - over 500 items in storage. Collection of national clothing of the Besermyan people, late 19th - early 20th centuries - over 100 items in storage. Collection of photographs and negatives by F. A. Zhemelev, an amateur photographer from Izhevsk, on the theme 'Udmurtia in the 1970s - early 1980s' - 856 photographs, 964 negatives. Kasli and Kusa cast-iron castings, late 19th century - 12 items in storage. Collection of yoke bells, 19th century - 16 items in storage. Most interesting items from the holdings.
