In 1920 a local history museum was opened in Izhevsk, which is now located in the former Arsenal of the Izhevsk arms factory. The museum's director was A. M. Filippov. The museum's holdings consist of more than 200,000 items, including unique collections of historical, archaeological and ethnographic monuments, weapons, photographs, books and book collections. The museum's annual attendance exceeds 200,000 people. The exhibition will acquaint visitors with the history and nature of Udmurtia, as well as with the ethnic history of the peoples of the region. Here you can see collections of national clothing, household utensils and other items, and taxidermy of common and rare animals. Thus, the museum offers visitors a full immersion in the history and culture of the region.
