Gennady Dmitrievich Krasilnikov was an Udmurt writer. A member of the Union of Soviet Writers. Gennady Krasilnikov was born in the village of Alnashi in the Votyak Autonomous Oblast. After finishing school he worked in the editorial office of the district newspaper 'Alnashsky Kolkhoznik'. In 1946 he was drafted into the army and trained at the Leningrad Military Communications School. However, six months later he was discharged for health reasons. On returning to Alnashi he worked as an instructor for Osoaviakhim and as an educator in a children's home. At the end of 1949 he began collaborating with the republican newspaper 'Sovetskaya Udmurtiya'.
 
In 1957 Krasilnikov graduated with honors from the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. From 1963 to 1974 he served as chairman of the board of the Union of Writers of the Udmurt ASSR. He also held various state positions: Krasilnikov was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR (1961-1963 and 1967-1971) and of the Supreme Soviet of the Udmurt ASSR (1961-1967 and 1971-1975); from March 20, 1963 to March 28, 1967 he was chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Udmurt ASSR. Gennady Dmitrievich Krasilnikov died on April 11, 1975 in Izhevsk at the age of 46. He was buried at the Khokhryakov Cemetery.
