Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology
About museum
The Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology is the largest museum of historical technology in Europe. The best rare exhibits of the last century are collected here: military equipment, weapons, rare aircraft, motorcycles and hundreds of retro cars, railway transport, space objects and household items of the USSR era.
Most of them have been restored, are on the move, and look immaculate on the outside.
The museum was founded on April 12, 2008. In 2018, the museum celebrated its first anniversary in the TOP 50 museums of Russia according to the results of the All-Russian popular online voting "My favorite Museum — 2018". The indoor exhibition consists of 3 floors of exhibition halls, with unique collections of foreign and Soviet retro cars, motorcycles, aircraft and historical small arms. The spacious outdoor exhibition of more than 3.5 hectares houses samples of domestic and foreign armored vehicles, artillery and agricultural machinery from the 30-80s of the twentieth century, as well as a large collection of combat aircraft and helicopters. The museum's collection includes more than 1,000 exhibits and is constantly evolving.
On May 9, 2020, the Museum opened a new permanent exhibition in the Aviation building,
dedicated to the heroic pilots and fighter planes of the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition features Soviet Yak-1, Yak-9, Yak-3 fighters and the British Hawker Hurricane fighter, which became part of a unique three-dimensional panorama, personal belongings, unique archival documents and much more.
Ilya Muromets is the pride of the Russian aviation industry at the beginning of the twentieth century, the world's first mass–produced multi-engine bomber. This airship has opened a new page in world aviation. The exhibition features a life-size model of this legendary aircraft. During its creation, materials and technologies used by aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky 100 years ago were used.
Authentic objects from the collections of the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology tell about weapons and uniforms, the course of military operations, and the exploits of Russian soldiers and officers. Some people in uniform come alive before our eyes.
Fascinating stories of a distant era on the guided tour "The First World War. The Forgotten War" will be told by guides who transform into characters of that time.
In the halls of the exhibition, we tried to reproduce the atmosphere of real military operations as fully and accurately as possible. The detailed reconstruction combined with audio effects gives the impression of being completely immersed in the historical era.
The “hallmark” of the Museum is the restaurant complex, which includes the restaurants “Grand Prix”, “Museum” and a real field kitchen.
