Spoon Museum
About museum
Vladimir Spoon Museum is the world's only private museum of its kind, opened in 2015. Its founder is Tatyana Pikunova, a collector with 27 years of experience. Her collection contains more than 30,000 spoons made from various materials, both foreign and domestic. The museum offers themed tours that allow visitors to look at history, geography, customs, traditions and commemorative dates in a new way. These are not lectures but conversations in which adults and children explore the material together, draw interesting conclusions and learn a lot of new things. For example, you will learn what a 'kapoushka' is, what a 'love spoon' is used for, the purpose of a coronation spoon, where the tradition of giving a spoon for the first tooth came from, how spoons were used in Ancient Egypt, why people used to visit with their own spoon, how baklushy were made, and what made the rose on the Hildesheim spoon famous. The museum holds masterclasses on painting wooden spoons, table etiquette and table setting. Tours and masterclasses are accessible to visually impaired visitors. In the museum shop you can buy souvenirs to suit every taste.
