M. A. Sholokhov Estate

The memorial complex 'M. A. Sholokhov Estate' is located in the center of the stanitsa Veshenskaya. Opened in 1987, it is the main site of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. All the items inside the manor house have been completely preserved and have an authentic history. On the first floor are the entrance hall, living room, dining room and reception study. On the second floor there is a large study, a 'hunting' room and a small study, where the writer worked on some of his most famous works. In the estate's garden a barn with a cellar and ice-house, an annex with a Russian stove, a garage exhibiting the writer's cars, and the graves of M. A. Sholokhov and his wife Maria Petrovna have been restored. On the first floor visitors can see the exhibition 'Nobel Triumph', dedicated to Sholokhov's receipt of the Nobel Prize in 1965.
