Railway Carriage Museum
About museum
In 1984, at the initiative of employees of the Central Museum of the October Railway, a museum carriage was established. The main goal was to give residents of remote areas the opportunity to learn about the history of the railway and rail transport. Initially the exhibition was housed in the old carriage No. 129, and later moved to a decommissioned passenger carriage manufactured in the GDR. Major repairs and modernization were carried out to improve the exhibition and service facilities. At present the museum carriage is constantly being updated: materials from the life of JSC 'Russian Railways' (RZD) are added to it, and events are held such as Children's Day, Railway Worker's Day, and anniversary celebrations of the opening of lines and stations. In November, at Lyuban station an induction is held for graduates of railway universities into employees of the October Railway, and all young staff are offered guided tours conducted by the head of the museum carriage.
