Petrovsky District History Museum
About museum
On December 15, 2002, a museum was opened in Izberdeyevsky District dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Pochin of the kolkhoz members of the agricultural artel 'Krasny Dobrovolets' and to the fundraising for tanks and the formation of the tank column 'Tambov Kolkhoznik' in 1942. Over 18 years it developed into a full-fledged local history museum with a collection of more than 6,500 items. Most of the museum's materials were provided free of charge by district residents and natives, making it a truly people's museum. Every year on November 7 celebrations are held at the Pochin site dedicated to the Krasny Dobrovolets and the fighters of the 'Tambov Kolkhoznik' tank column. In 2017 the museum was moved to the building where Hero of the Soviet Union G. I. Chernikov previously worked, and it consists of four halls: an ethnography hall, a hall of military and labor glory, a contemporary hall, and an exhibition hall.
