Zheleznodorozhny Local History Museum
About museum
Alexander Ivanovich Shusherov was the first to propose creating a museum in the city after the first exhibition on the city's history in 1957. He spent many years collecting documents and materials and enlisted local historians and artists to collaborate. The museum opened to visitors in 1970, and in 1987 an exhibition hall opened in the museum building to display paintings donated to the city. Today the museum is known far beyond the region. It hosts exhibitions of decorative and applied arts and paintings, meetings with writers, literary figures, architects, artists and historians, and interactive programs for children. The museum's halls feature a permanent exhibition dedicated to the Ryabushinsky dynasty. The museum also has an exhibition in the house where Andrei Bely lived.
