M.K. Ammosov Memorial House-Museum

The Memorial House-Museum of Maxim Kirovich Ammosov is a branch of the Yakut State United Museum of the History and Culture of the Peoples of the North named after Yemelyan Yaroslavsky. It is located in Yakutsk, the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), in the architectural and ethnographic complex 'Old Town'. The house-museum was opened in 1987, on the 90th anniversary of M.K. Ammosov's birth, by order of the Council of Ministers of the Yakut ASSR and was included in the register of specially protected historical monuments of Yakutia. M.K. Ammosov lived here while working in Yakutia in 1920–1923 and 1925–1928. From 1925 to 1930 members of an expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences, organized at Ammosov's initiative, lived here. The memorial museum's exhibition is dedicated to the life and activities of M.K. Ammosov and his associates. It covers the formation of the Yakut Soviet Socialist Republic and the early steps in the development of public education, culture, medicine, industrialization, aviation, and the youth and children's movement.
