About museum
On 23 February 1968 the Public District Museum of Military and Labor Glory was opened and registered in the Republican Museum of Local Lore. In 1976 a new House of Culture building was constructed at 12 Kirov Street, where 2 rooms were allocated to the museum. On 22 December 2008 the museum was given the name of the people's poet Oleg Alexeyevich Poskrebyshev. The museum's mission is the spiritual, moral and civic‑patriotic education of the younger generation. It hosts contest-and-game programs, master classes and educational events. Since 2017 work has been carried out to enter museum items into the State Catalogue of the Museum Fund; as of 1 January 2022, 1,252 items had been entered into the catalogue. The museum continues to operate to achieve its primary goal — the upbringing of the younger generation.
