Collections depository of the Pskov Museum-Reserve (Mason's House)
About museum
An elegant building in a quiet lane of Pskov, known to locals as the Mason's House, it has nothing to do with the notorious secret societies. In the early 20th century a certain Scottish subject, Ludwig Mason, moved to Russia, became a history teacher, and collected ancient coins and works of art. The people of Pskov adapted his name in their own way — calling him Mason. He built a Modern-style residence for himself and his gatherings in 1910.

\r\nAfter the Revolution Mason's trail was lost, and the house was converted into an ordinary communal apartment. In 1998 monastery masonry and traces of burials were discovered in the basement. According to rumours, it was here that the remains of the famous Pskov merchant Pogankin were found. Since 2002 the renovated building has housed the collections depository of the Pskov State United Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.
