About museum

On December 13, 2005, the V. K. Küchelbecker House-Museum was opened in Kurgan — the only museum in Russia dedicated to the memory of the Decembrist, poet and lyceum friend of A. S. Pushkin. The museum presents the history of Küchelbecker's life and his family, as well as many rare items from that time, including original interiors and books. Around the museum there is a small garden that was planted by Kurgan poets in 2006. In 2019 a maple sapling brought from Mikhailovskoye was planted in the park. The museum is visited by people from different cities and countries, and various events and celebrations are also held.
