Art space 'Bricks'
About museum
At one time the old building of the Poklevskikh-Kozell complex housed both nuns' cells and a military enlistment office. Only the first floor and the basement have been preserved in their historic form. According to local long-time residents, it was on the first floor of this building that the nuns' cells were located; the nuns lived attached to the family of the vodka king. The art space was named 'Bricks' because the building was constructed from bricks made at the Gustomesov factory, which operated in the mid-19th century. Director Marina Sokolova said that the idea to create the art space was born when she was looking for an exhibition venue for her project — an exhibition of paintings by the artist and designer George Shagashvili. Designer Natalya Mishukova and her family made a huge contribution to the building's transformation. 'Bricks' opened to visitors on January 19, 2022. The first project was the 'Steps' exhibition, which features works by Ural and international artists. There is also a souvenir shop, and master classes, creative meetings, and fashion shows are planned.
