Earlier I published events for the May holidays that will take place in the streets and squares of Volgograd. In this article I publish the events prepared by Volgograd museums.
Local History Museum.
Thematic guided tour "The Greatness of Ancestors – Pride of Descendants".
The exhibition "The Greatness of Ancestors – Pride of Descendants" is aimed at preserving and passing on knowledge about the Great Patriotic War by displaying museum items on the region's history from 1941–1945, materials from local residents who were front-line soldiers and contemporaries of the war. The exhibition features photographs, documents, letters, personal belongings and awards. The exhibition presents the main events of the Great Patriotic War, paying attention to various aspects of front-line and home-front life; the exhibits can underscore the drama and greatness in the fates of our fellow countrymen and their contribution to the common Victory.
Date: May 7 at 16:00
May 8 at 18:00
May 9 at 11:00, 16:00
Cost: 350 RUB.

Thematic guided tour "Stalingrad Lives and Will Live".
The event is dedicated to the memory of Stalingrad residents who became participants in the great battle on the Volga. The aim of the event is an attempt to show the war and the Battle of Stalingrad through the eyes of the participants, through the eyes of Stalingrad's civilians and the fighters who defended the city. The everyday life of townspeople in the combat zone, in the rear, and on occupied territory is very difficult for a modern person to imagine. It is even harder to imagine front-line life through the eyes of an ordinary soldier. Participants will learn how Stalingrad residents lived in the pre-war period, how they bravely endured the hardships of war, and how they rebuilt their native city by joint efforts. Stalingrad lives and will live.
Date:
May 8 at 16:00
Cost: 350 RUB.

Mashkov Art Museum.
Curator-led tours of the exhibition "Dedicated to the Defenders of the Fatherland".
On the curator-led tour, the museum's senior researcher Elena Ogarkova will talk about the role of military artists in shaping the nation's historical memory, about the contribution of the Grekov School artists, as eyewitness painters of the Battle of Stalingrad, in documenting its events and heroes. We will present little-known pages about the creation and restoration of the panorama "The Battle of Stalingrad."
The exhibition features portraits of the great Soviet scientists and designers who created a reliable shield for the Motherland: M.I. Koshkin, Y.B. Khariton, A.N. Tupolev, P.O. Sukhoi. We will learn more about them. The exhibition curator will talk about the work of contemporary military artists and present a wide creative range of their abilities, from large battle paintings and formal portraits to intimate, lyrical landscapes.
Date: May 9 at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00

Planetarium.
Full-dome program "The Immortal Feat of Stalingrad"
"The Immortal Feat of Stalingrad" is the first military immersive program with a 360-degree overview, which can be seen only on the dome of the Volgograd Planetarium. Thanks to the latest technologies combined with wartime film chronicle, the viewer will, on the one hand, be able to understand the details of the events, and on the other hand, fully feel the scale and drama of the great war.

The program, timed to the 80th anniversary of the defeat of the German-fascist troops by Soviet forces in the Battle of Stalingrad, will transport you into the midst of past events.
The thematic structure of the program reflects the main stages of the Battle of Stalingrad: battles on the distant and close approaches, street fighting, Soviet counteroffensives, Operation "Ring", as well as the victorious conclusion and the restoration of the city from the ruins. It contains a large amount of illustrative material – photographs, newsreel fragments, infographics, as well as animated maps of key combat operations of the Battle of Stalingrad, which will greatly help viewers to better perceive the complex material.

This project is the result of joint cooperation between the State Budgetary Cultural Institution of the Volgograd Region "Volgograd Planetarium" and the Federal State Budgetary Cultural Institution "State Historical and Memorial Museum-Reserve 'Battle of Stalingrad'".
