On November 4, 2016, on the Day of National Unity and the Day of the Establishment of the Mari Autonomous Oblast, the Museum of the History of Orthodoxy was opened. It is a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Mari El named after T. Evseev. It presents the history of Orthodoxy on Mari land, as well as church construction, parish life, and missionary activity in the 18th to the early 20th centuries. The museum exhibits collection items, icons, crucifixes, skladni (folding icons), vestments, photographic documents, and spiritual literature. You can also see installations, models of churches, and the contemporary history of Orthodoxy. Visiting this museum provides a deep understanding of the history and culture of Orthodoxy in the territory of the Republic of Mari El.
