Northern Maritime Museum
About museum
The Northern Maritime Museum is located in the historic center of Arkhangelsk, on the site of the former marine terminal and between two piers. It was established in the 1970s and in 1993 received state status. The museum's exhibits present the history of the maritime development of the North, with particular attention paid to the role of Arkhangelsk in the development of Russia's seaport. The museum displays authentic historical monuments, models of boats and ships, mock-ups of ship equipment, and various ship devices and instruments. The exhibition space "Millennium of Northern Navigation" is stylized as a "sailing ship" and the decorative structures are made in the form of various fragments of ship blueprints, rigging parts and elements of the vessel's interior and exterior. Here you can also see archival documents, rare book editions, maps, Pomor seafaring gear and other materials.
