The Pechora Local History Museum was founded in 1975 by a group of enthusiasts led by local historian Petr Ivanovich Terentyev. Since 2001 the museum has been actively developing, carrying out project activities and using digital technologies. It also participates in the international project "Virtual GULAG Museum." The museum presents collections of household items and ethnography of the Middle Pre-Pechora region, manuscript and early printed books, Old Believers' artifacts, and the archive of documents of the agricultural camp "Kedrovyy Shor." The museum offers guided tours, lectures, interactive programs, quizzes, contests, celebrations, campaigns, presentations, master classes, and meetings.
