The Miass Local History Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Chelyabinsk Region, located in the beautiful mansion of gold industrialist E. M. Simonov. The museum holds more than 51,000 exhibits; themed tours are offered for schoolchildren and students, as well as city local-history readings and lectures on the region's history. Since 2006 the museum has adopted new trends in the museum world, namely permanent exhibitions. Here people are not merely spectators but participants in the events taking place. The museum actively participates in the development of the tourist cluster in the Miass Urban District, offering many unique events. It is one of the city's most visited attractions, drawing the attention of both residents and foreign guests.
