About museum

In 2012, the Educational Sports Museum of Derzhavin University was opened in a 200 sq. m. building. It houses materials that document the development of physical culture and sport in Tambov Oblast, as well as the history of the establishment of higher physical education based on the Tambov State Pedagogical Institute. The museum contains medals, cups, certificates, sports equipment and paraphernalia, and numerous souvenirs. A distinctive feature of the museum is the private collection of sports badges of Anatoly Sychyov, an Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sport of the Russian Federation, which comprises more than 5,000 items. This museum is the largest in the region and the only one of its kind.
