About museum
In 1986 A. A. Kuratova, a native of the village of Yb and a former teacher at the Yb secondary school, founded the Yb Ethnographic Museum on a voluntary basis. Artists R. N. Ermolyn and V. R. Ermolyn took part in creating the first exhibition. In 1992 the museum was granted state museum status, and since 2006 it has been a branch of the Museum of History and Culture of the Syktyvdinsky District. It is located in the building of the former village school, built in 1892, and comprises 4,425 storage units occupying an area of 231 sq. m, distributed across 5 halls. In February 2018 the museum's interactive site 'Territory of the Ancient Ones, or Living Reptiles' received a grant from the Head of the Komi Republic in the field of museum affairs, and in December of the same year it was announced the winner of the republican competition 'Leaders of the Tourism Industry of the Komi Republic' in the category 'Best Museum Project'.
