Museum of Contemporary Art of the Jewish Autonomous Region
About museum
In April 1989 the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Jewish Autonomous Region was opened in Khabarovsk; since 1996 it has been an independent organization. The museum's collection began to take shape from the moment of its opening, and the first exhibit was Oleg Firer's painting 'Sign of the Covenant', which represents the beginning of collecting works of this kind in Russia. The museum houses works by artists from the Russian Far East. The first exhibition of computer graphics and photography in the region was held here; it was open to all residents of the Jewish Autonomous Region with no restrictions on age or formal art education. A variety of exhibition formats makes the museum more accessible to visitors. The museum's exhibition changes once a month.
