About museum
The museum was founded in 2004. It consists of three museums: the Historical and Local Lore Museum, the Tanya Savicheva Children's Museum, and the Staro-Ivantsev Museum of Mordovian Culture. The museum houses 700 items in the main collection and 200 items in the research and auxiliary collection, including household and ethnographic objects, numismatics, photographs and others. The exhibits present the history of the urban-type settlement of Shatki and the surrounding district, and also provide insight into the occupations, trades, culture and everyday life of the Russian and Mordovian peoples. The Tanya Savicheva Children's Museum features a special exhibition dedicated to the memory of the girl who was a victim of the Siege of Leningrad. The museum hosts various events, including exhibitions, lectures and concerts.
