Mordovian Folk Culture Museum
About museum
The Mordovian Folk Culture Museum opened on October 6, 1999, in a house that belonged until 1917 to the Saransk merchant and entrepreneur K. Kh. Barablin. The museum's collections number nearly 4,000 items and include Mordovian folk clothing, icons, ceramics, household utensils, agricultural implements and tools. The exhibition provides a clear look at the life, everyday practices, and traditional rituals of the Mordvin people, and also showcases the inventiveness and skill of folk craftsmen. The museum hosts solo and thematic exhibitions. Educational programs for children and youth operate here, preserving old traditions while striving to remain engaging for visitors.
