Museum of Folk Art and Everyday Life, Zirekle village
About museum
In 1992, on the basis of the alumni museum of the Zirekle school, the Museum of Folk Art and Everyday Life was established. It houses handmade items from the 19th–20th centuries, including ceremonial towels with red ends, embroidered towels on white calico with floral patterns, namazlyks, dresses, embroidered knee cloths, tubeteikas (traditional skullcaps), hand-woven tablecloths, household items, and others. The museum also presents bayits — examples of oral folk art. Over ten years, three books compiling bayits were published. The museum is the spiritual center of the village and the district; it participates in publishing collections of poems by local authors, holds commemorative events, and pays tribute to all the workers and fellow villagers who died or went missing during the Great Patriotic War.
