About museum

As part of the State Tretyakov Gallery a new museum space was opened — the Museum of Pavel and Sergey Tretyakov. It is dedicated to the lives and activities of the Moscow collectors and philanthropists Pavel and Sergey Tretyakov, as well as to the Tretyakov family, their contribution to the development of collecting and art in the 19th century, and to the founding of the Tretyakov Gallery. Restored interiors and the atmosphere of the space are complemented by objects related to the life and activities of the Tretyakovs, as well as by multimedia installations based on scholarly research and documents. It is a true memorial to the great collectors and their contribution to the history of Russia.
