Vidyayevo Museum of the History of the Settlement and Garrison

On September 21, 2008, on the day of Vidyayevo's 50th anniversary celebration, the Museum of the History of the Settlement and Garrison was opened. In April 2009 the museum was registered with the regional Local History Museum. Today the museum displays 920 exhibits, including 197 originals. The museum has three halls: a hall dedicated to F. A. Vidyaev, a local history and garrison combat glory hall, and a hall of the settlement's history and modern life. The purpose of creating the hall dedicated to F. A. Vidyaev is to perpetuate the memory of the legendary submariner, commander of the submarines Shch-421 and Shch-422. For this, materials from the Central Navy Archive in Gatchina, materials from the Navy Archive in Moscow, and correspondence with M. I. Vidyaeva were used. The museum has installed a stele and a banner of the submarine Shch-422, as well as two display boards with photographs of F. A. Vidyaev's memorable places. The museum conducts guided tours, remembrance sessions, lessons in courage, talks and ceremonial send-offs for groups of conscripts. The museum has become one of the centers of patriotic and moral education for the settlement's residents.
