Museum of History and Archaeology in Staryi Krym
About museum
The idea of creating a museum in Staryi Krym emerged more than 20 years ago due to the city's considerable cultural potential. But the start of implementation had to wait until 2014. At that time the proposal received the republic's approval, and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea transferred the building and adjacent territory for gratuitous use. Within six months, the Ministry of Culture and the Crimean Tatar Museum carried out repair work, purchased equipment, and allocated staff positions. A cooperation agreement was concluded with the State Hermitage. The exhibition included materials from the 2019 archaeological excavations, as well as architectural details from the mosque and madrasa complex. The display is complemented by illustrative series dedicated to the settlement (gorodishche) and its researchers. Thus, the museum in Staryi Krym became a reality.
