Museum of the History of the Navy
About museum
Situated on the grounds of the Museum and Park Complex 'Severnoye Tushino' is one of Moscow's most unusual and patriotic museums — the Museum of the History of the Navy. It is a cultural and historical heritage site located within the water protection zone of the Khimki Reservoir. The main exhibit is the submarine B-396 'Novosibirsky Komsomolets', along with an open-air display of military equipment. In summer the submarine's upper deck and conning tower are open to visitors. The museum offers three types of tours: through the submarine compartments, an exhibition tour, and a tour of the upper deck. The exhibition occupies two floors of the pavilion and presents the displays 'Pages of Sea Glory. Submariners', 'Grandeur and Depth', and 'Pages of Sea Glory. Domestic Naval Commanders'. The first exhibition features models of nearly all the main Russian submarines and, most notably, the clandestine vessel 'Bochka Nikonova'. The second exhibition covers the principal naval commanders of the Russian Empire and the Russian Federation, highlighting their feats and achievements.
