In 1989 the Sosnovoborsk Local History Museum was founded; it holds 832 collection items. It is one of the most prominent municipal museums in the region and houses numerous authentic cultural monuments, artisans' works, photographs, documents, memorial items, and coins from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The archaeological collection contains exhibits from the Neolithic period through the 18th century. The museum also features a separate exhibition dedicated to the celebrated merchant family Petrov. The museum's exhibition is divided into six halls: 'History of the district from the earliest times to the end of the 18th century', 'The district in the era of capitalism and imperialism', 'The establishment of Soviet power in the Sosnovoborsk district. The Civil War and the construction of socialism', 'The Great Patriotic War "At the Rear as at the Front". Sosnovoborsk in the post-war years', 'Icon painting', 'Folk crafts of the Sosnovoborsk area'. The museum displays many cultural monuments, works by craftsmen and artisans, coins, and other historical exhibits.
