Museum of Zemstvo and Urban Planning History
About museum
The museum's exhibition is devoted to the history of Krapivensky Uyezd after the Zemstvo reform of 1864. It provides an understanding of the importance of the legacy left by members of post‑reform society, including Leo Tolstoy. On the first floor of the museum there are archaeological finds, models and drawings of buildings, surveying instruments, documents from the police administration and the treasury, as well as other items related to the history of urban planning. The second‑floor exhibition is divided into sections around three meta‑themes: the Zemstvo reform at the all‑Russian level, the work of local Zemstvo institutions, and Tolstoy's activities. In one of the halls on the second floor visitors can "call" the heroes of Russian writers and hear their views on the Zemstvo.
