About museum
Located in the historic center of the village of Vizinga in the building of the Vizinga Volost Council of Peasants' and Soldiers' Deputies of 1918, which is a cultural heritage site of the Komi Republic, the Museum of History and Culture of the Sysolsky District received the honorary title 'People's Museum' in 1980. Since its founding in 1970, thanks to donations and expeditionary collections the museum has amassed more than 13,000 items, including personal collections of notable political figures and figures of science and culture from the Sysol region. The museum houses permanent exhibitions, including a 'Fine Arts' section with over 400 items and paintings, as well as a history hall with front-line letters, gymnasterkas, greatcoats and other wartime items. Today the museum offers a wide range of services, including exhibitions and guided tours, master classes and other events, as well as research activities for collecting and analyzing exhibits, photographs and documents.
