Mikhail Vasilyevich Aseev was an outstanding Russian industrialist and philanthropist. He received a medical education, inherited the family business and turned it into a large textile empire with enterprises across Russia. Aseev was actively involved in public and state affairs, holding leadership positions in banking and industrial organizations. He was known for extensive philanthropy: financing the construction of schools and hospitals and supporting the needy and servicemen during the First World War. His contribution to the development of the Tambov Governorate and the country as a whole was significant. For his services he received a noble title and numerous awards. The Aseev family, which had eight children, suffered from the Revolution of 1917: their property was confiscated and the Aseevs emigrated. After twenty years in Belgrade, the widow with part of the family moved to Paraguay, while other family members went to Chile. Today the descendants of Mikhail Vasilyevich Aseev live in Latin America and Europe, preserving the memory of their ancestor.
