Khabarovsk City History Museum
About museum
The Khabarovsk History Museum is the youngest city museum in the Far Eastern Federal District. It was opened in 2003 at the initiative of local residents and under the patronage of the city's mayor A. N. Sokolov. The museum houses historical and everyday-life collections and photo-documentary collections, as well as a collection of gifts and awards presented to the city by sister cities in China, Japan, South Korea, the USA and Canada. The museum features exhibitions dedicated to the city's history, the Great Patriotic War, industrial construction, sister cities, and more. The museum also operates a Children's Museum Center where children can visit various interactive areas, see a model of a Ford car, as well as the interior of a 19th-century mansion and other items. All this helps to reveal pre-revolutionary Khabarovsk wooden architecture and to appreciate the folk art of the peasant-merchant environment.
