In Gorodskoe Nachalo Park there is a historic monument, the "Office of the Tomsk Estate of the Altai District of the Department of His Imperial Majesty's Cabinet", built in the early 1900s. In 1907 an agreement on the purchase of imperial lands by the city of Novo-Nikolaevsk was signed in this building; this agreement played an important role in the city's development. After the Revolution the building housed the Oktyabrsky police department, the district archive, and the Oktyabrsky district party committee. In the 1990s and 2000s the building was transferred to the Novosibirsk branch of the Russian Academy of Entrepreneurship, and since 2016 it has belonged to the Museum of Novosibirsk. Permanent exhibitions are held here, for example, "Many Years Before Novosibirsk: Pre-urban History" and "Industrial Siberia. Small Stories of a Big Factory". The site has attracted many visitors for education and tours.
