K. V. Ivanov Literary Museum
About museum
In October 1940 the Literary Museum was opened in honor of the 50th anniversary of the birth of Konstantin Ivanov (1890–1915). He was a pupil and teacher at the Simbirsk Chuvash school, a translator, an artist and one of the founders of Chuvash literature. The museum has been located in the center of Cheboksary since May 27, 1990. It presents various stages in the development of Chuvash literature from its origins to the present day, including tomb monuments with runic inscriptions, the work of the first ethnographers, oral folk creativity and the works of outstanding Chuvash writers. A separate gallery is dedicated to the work of Konstantin Ivanov: the interior of his study has been reconstructed and memorial items are on display, including a homemade typewriter, writing implements, manuscripts and drawings.
