The Mayakovsky Family Apartment on Bolshaya Presnya

The project “Daughter” opens on Krasnaya Presnya, dedicated to the American daughter of Vladimir Mayakovsky and his wife Elena Vladimirovna — Patricia J. Thompson. The exhibition is divided into two parts: the first covers Mayakovsky’s trip to New York and his meeting with Patricia’s mother — Elli Jones, and the second tells the story of Elli and her daughter, as well as the family of Elena Petrovna Siebert. In the Mayakovskys’ apartment on Krasnaya Presnya, the study and the living room of Elena Vladimirovna’s American apartment have been recreated. Archives and materials about the poet that she collected over many years, as well as her scholarly research, have been brought there. Visitors will be able to get additional information about each exhibit using mobile devices. For example, they will see a photo of Mayakovsky at the Woolworth Building, watch newsreel footage, read the poet’s poem and listen to it performed by theater and film actor Yuri Anpilogov.
