S. D. Erzia House-Museum
About museum
\r\nIn 1976, on the 100th anniversary of the sculptor S. D. Erzia, a house-museum was opened in a one-story wooden building. The collection includes sculptures, folk art, photo documents, the personal belongings of S. Erzia, works by his students, items of Mordovian folk art, a 19th-century Erzya woman's costume, samples of embroidery, wooden and ceramic utensils, and a weaving loom. The house-museum is located in a substantial house reminiscent of the Nefedovs' izba, and in October 1991 a monument to S. D. Erzia was erected. The house-museum's exhibition presents the life and work of the master based on documentary and photographic materials, black-and-white and color photographs of S. D. Erzia and his works.
